It’s Time to Start Planning…

No Comments Uncategorized

In these uncertain economic times many anglers have decided they do not have the time or disposable income to even consider booking anything other than a local fly fishing trip in 2012. Newspapers are warning that the sky is falling, Europe is sliding into an abyss, and prices continue to creep inexorably upward. That said many of us continue to daydream about taking one of those trips on our bucket list because, well, just dreaming about them makes getting through the day that much easier. Perhaps surprisingly, many anglers who go the step beyond daydreaming and actually do some research are finding out that what they thought was an expensive trip actually is not… If you are not aware, although much of the global economy is running on fumes at the moment, ironically it is this very circumstance that is creating opportunity for anglers because there are an increasing number of incredible deals to be had. And those anglers who are doing their homework are getting some incredible deals!

A significant percentage of fly fishing lodges have historically depended on the patronage of American anglers but with their declining numbers since 2008 lodge owners have aggressively begun to court new clients from other countries – including Canada. This is one of the reasons that we have started our travel incentive program and if nothing else you should familiarize yourself with it. The premise is simply this: if you book a lodge directly or through a fly shop like ours the price is the same but because we are a retailer we get paid a commission for making your booking. However, what we are doing is giving back to you the commission we get in the form of a gift certificate worth 10% of the trip value to spend in our store. The only change to what might otherwise be ‘normal’ booking policies for a lodge are that your deposit becomes non-refundable. It is also important to note that, first, WE MUST MAKE THE INTRODUCTION and secondly, this applies to any destination whether it is listed on our site our not. In those cases where you want to book a lodge not listed on our site just let us know and we will call them on your behalf. If they choose to not participate (*no one has yet declined) you can still make your own booking and pay the same price as you would have to begin with.

“Book a Trip & Get (insert desired gear here)”

No Comments Uncategorized

“Book a trip and get a rod” is a common refrain with fly shops and outfitters across North America and it is used as an incentive to attract customers who want greater value without spending more money. We have taken this incentive one step further…

If you book a fly fishing trip through WILSON’S you will pay the same price as you would booking the trip directly with the lodge but because we are a retailer we are paid a commission and we give the lion’s share of this commission back to you in the form of a gift certificate worth 10% of the trip value to spend in our store. To our knowledge no other fly shop in the industry is offering this program and it is your money so why not get it back?

So, book a trip through WILSON’S and get whatever you want!
