Mini-Banff

No Comments Uncategorized

Years ago I saw a picture of a hotel sitting on a hill in the Canadian Rockies and thought to myself, “One of these days I am going there… wherever it is” Growing up in North Bay, Ontario, I thought at the time that this hotel was in Banff because that was the only town in the Rockies that I had heard of and, well, isn’t everything in Banff?

Fast forward 25 years and I found myself sitting in the main dining room of the Prince of Wales Hotel in Waterton, Alberta with my family tonight having dinner and thinking to myself, “Hmmm, this didn’t take too long…”.

If you like the mountains but dislike crowds and have not visited Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta I highly recommend it! Waterton is a ‘mini-Banff’ in that it has the scenery but not as many tourists – which I supposed is both a blessing and a curse.

And so begins our trip. Tomorrow we drive to Missoula, Montana and I am looking forward to getting there like few other destinations I have ever visited.
