We have been informed that the Ontario Government is getting ready to announce that all fishing on the Grand River and the Credit River will be closed in 2009.
According to Government sources there is concern within the MNR that a significant spike in recreational fishing licenses sold in Southern Ontario since the economic downtown began in October 2008 will have an adverse impact on the Grand and Credit Rivers in particular because of their proximity to the Greater Toronto Area. The Government has decided that the best course of action to preserve what many to be the “crown jewels” of Southern Ontario Fisheries is to close them altogether for the 2009 season. This is absurd and must be stopped !
To our amazement, the OFHA, TOC and the CWA have all endorsed the Government’s position which is anticipated to take effect this month with little to no public input.
If you are as concerned about this as we are please contact your local MPP as quickly as possible. This closure must be stopped !

Oh damn! And I just made some money on the market and meant to come over and treat myself with some nice outfit for the new season at the Credit.
