Fly Fishing for Arctic Char in 2010

Arctic Char Fly FishingAs we settle in for the winter many of us are researching fly fishing destinations to book in 2010. If you have ever wanted to fly fish for Arctic Char there is a destination in Nunavik (northern Quebec) that you should know about.

Rapid Lake Lodge was founded in 1990 by Alain & Serge Lagace and it is one of the premier Arctic Char destinations in the world. I had the pleasure of visiting this lodge in August this year and can not speak more highly of the fishing. If you have dreamed of a place in the world where you can catch char on every cast this is the place. With spectacular waterfalls, crystal clear water and secluded river pools, the eastern coast of Ungava Bay is arguably the most beautiful place in North America to pursue Arctic Char. In addition to fly fishing, the lodge also offers flying safaris through the Torngat Mountains to view icebergs, polar bears, whales and the fjords of the northern Labrador Coast.

It is worth noting that because of the quality of fishing and the daily fly–outs this destination is very similar to the experience you get in Alaska. During your trip you fish some of the best Arctic Char rivers in the world and the opportunities in this remote area are as endless as the scenery is beautiful.
