Definition of a Motorcycle? An “Organ Donor”

I have had a business partner in my ‘other’ career for 17 years and you won’t find a nicer guy on the planet. He is someone whose main shortcoming as a businessman is that he is too often fair to everyone but himself. One of his passions in life is to jump on his Harley Davidson and go. He takes road trips as often as possible and, like many bikers, enjoys the freedom (whatever that means). I’d say he likes the wind in his hair but he wears a helmet and he’s pretty much bald. Maybe it’s what the experience represents. Whatever. He likes doing it and it keeps his mind clear.

Well, he was driving up a paved road in Ohio a week ago last Saturday and hit a patch of sand. Long story short the bike ended up in the ditch and he broke his neck and back. Thankfully there is no permanent damage to his spinal cord but he has a long road ahead of him – and it isn’t on his bike.

He was paying attention and the weather was good – it was just a freak accident that almost cost him his life. I’m trying to make some sense out of this and the only thing I can conclude is that I need to make sure to enjoy every minute of every day – and I hope you do as well…
