Day 2 at the Sportsmen’s Show went very well – I’m told… I woke this morning, walked my dog and hit a brick wall. I think the preparation of the last few weeks finally caught up to me because my body told me it wasn’t interested in doing anything other than gravitating towards the couch. Normally I would have sucked it up but I knew I was mentally and physically exhausted so did some necessary work via the internet and then hid. Todd Fritzley, James Wachiuri, Mike Fitzgerald and Sheldon Seale were manning the booth at the show and called to say that attendance was up significantly from yesterday and they were getting a lot of people donating to Esma Wilson’s Cast for Cancer and signing up for our free draws… which I don’t think I have previously mentioned.
If you are able to attend the Toronto Sportsmen’s Show please come by our booth and leave your name and email address to enter our draws for attendance at the Toronto Fly Fishing School, free fly tying lessons with Sheldon Seale, a guided walk & wade on the Grand River and a weekend at the Falls Inn learning how to fly fish the Bighead River May 14-16. We are organizing this weekend trip with the Falls Inn in Walter’s Falls for fly anglers who want to learn about the Bighead. The Falls Inn has put together a package that includes accommodation on Friday and Saturday, bar snacks on Friday evening, breakfast and a box lunch on Saturday with a 3 course meal on Saturday night and brunch on Sunday – all for $450 per person (based on double occupancy, taxes and gratuities included). Our plan is to have anglers make their way to the Inn on Friday evening where we will gather in the bar to meet as a group and have beats assigned for fishing on Saturday. Breakfast will be at your leisure on Saturday morning and each angler will take a box lunch to the river where they will fly fish assigned beats and rotate during the day to check out the various access points on the river. We will return to the Inn for a late dinner on Saturday evening and share our experience over a drink on the patio. Sunday we will again get up early to fly fish for a few hours and return to the Inn for brunch at 11 am and then clean up and sign out by 1 pm.
More information on this trip to come!
There is a lot to see at the Toronto Sportsmen’s Show and as mentioned yesterday we are pleased that the attendees are delighted with the new venue. If you can make it down please come by, say hello and help the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation by participating in Esma Wilson’s Cast for Cancer!
