A Tragic Reminder

No Comments Uncategorized

Like many in our sport I often fly fish by myself and every so often I get into situations that only through luck have I not had any significant problems. I am sure you have been in one yourself: wading too deep in faster water, taking a misstep into a hole, or even impaling yourself with a hook. I carry a small first aid kit with me for those “just in case” moments and when I am on a boat I wear a life jacket and encourage everyone to do the same.

The following story is about a Canadian fly fisher from Pickering who drowned while on a drift boat trip on Rock Creek in Montana last week and it is a tragic reminder that life can take sudden, deadly turns – even when fly fishing. Our sympathies go out to the friends and family of the angler from Pickering who drowned – and also to the guide and his family.
