Gary Christie, President of the Nottawasaga Steelheaders recently sent me an email about an article that appeared in the “Sunday Star” on December 6th. According to this article an individual has been buying up farmland in the Shelburne headwaters with the intention of developing a 2,400 acre quarry and this quarry will likely have a tremendous irreversible effect on the Nottawasaga River watershed as well as the Grand River. The aquifers here are prime contributors to the watersheds and they face an immense threat from this type and level of activity.

If you care about these watersheds please help us make sure that this and other similar projects are developed responsibly and with consideration for the preservation of Ontario’s water resources first and foremost.
