Christmas is Coming !

No Comments Uncategorized

As the temperature drops and the first snows of winter arrive on our doorsteps, fly fishers are turning their thoughts to one thing: what are we going to get for Christmas ? (As our spouses know, when it comes to fly fishing it’s all about us…).

With December just around the corner we are starting to gear up for the holidays. The tree came out of the box yesterday, our new fireplace has been installed, the coffee is always on and our Christmas inventory has started to arrive. We have a great selection of fly fishing Christmas tree ornaments and other seasonal items from Big Sky Carvers; tying materials, rods, reels waders, wading staffs, hats and gloves. With Canada’s best selection of fresh and saltwater flies we can also put together collections of leaders and tippit, custom fly box selections of Trout, Bass, Steelhead, Atlantic Salmon, Pike, Muskie and Saltwater flies for the fly fisher in your life.

If you need to get out of the house please drop in to see what Santa might be bringing you !

Kitchener-Waterloo Fly Fishing Club

No Comments Uncategorized

John Dadds was kind enough to let us know that the last Kitchener-Waterloo Fly-Fishers meeting of 2008 starts at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, at the Albert McCormick Community Centre, 500 Parkside Drive, Waterloo. There is no scheduled speaker but there will be a round-table discussion for everyone to boast about their fishing exploits.

The first three meetings of 2009 will be held in the Upper Lounge at the Albert McCormick Centre — go in the main entrance at the other end from the library and up the stairs.

NOTE: WILSON’S is pleased to promote all fly fishing club activities. Please email us details to post on our calendar.

River Conditions – Saturday Nov 29

No Comments Uncategorized

Reports of improving conditions across southwestern Ontario are coming in but the best bet this weekend likely remains the Bighead. Flow is just about perfect and the fishing continues to be very good.

By the way, if you want to increase the number of fish you catch at this time of year you have to know how to fish high water. The professional guides in Ontario that are listed on our LINKS section are some of Ontario’s best. They are patient teachers who will show you how to improve your casting and drifting. What it comes down to is this: if you want to catch fish – HIRE A GUIDE ! (we know, it’s rocket science…).
